Ulhu's Lunch

As part of an entry vetting process, candidates were tasked to create a child's school lunch. Items required were: some sort of container, a sandwich (with items between two slices of bread), some kind of fruit, and a treat. For this exercise, I thought about the character I wanted to make this lunch for and decided to go for an early 2000's era little girl. Seeing as how I myself grew up in the late 90's- early 2000's I wanted to draw on an aesthetic I knew well. To make the items more interesting I put a spin on the character herself. A daughter of a famous sea monster.

For the Container: barnacles, grime, and a faded picture are supposed to show the heavy damage the ocean put on man-made items.
The sandwich is soggy, full of seaweed, and covered in algae. I imagine the fish would be kept alive until consumption.
The fruit was a pun. Seagrapes are a real thing but they didn't give the same level of fantasy that the other items and character did. The sliced apple gives a look into this fruit-creature. Part Crab insides and part apple core.
Finally, the treat is chocolate covered coral. It is based on Pocky sticks and would have the same level of popularity.
