Mercy Brown

While listening to the Lore Podcast I was inspired to make a piece based on Mercy Brown. Mercy and her family lived in Rhode Island and were a part of the New England Vampire Panic in 1892. Like many others, the Brown family had members fatally effected by Tuberculosis. This was extremely infectious and when one member of the family came down with it, often another was sure to follow. To explain the horror of watching an entire family waste away people tended to blame it on a supernatural cause. Long story short, bodies were exhumed, organs were burned, and some were consumed. Such was the fate of Mercy.
